Following that dramatic win in the Zone 9 Pennants Final, Gordon's Grade 5 side competed in the State Pennants playoffs at Ettalong Bowling Club on the weekend of August 1-2. Perhaps overawed by the big occasion, we started nervously on Saturday losing to teams from The Entrance in the morning and Kensington in the afternoon. On Sunday, it was a different story as Gordon recorded a 55-50 win over the previously undefeated "Condong Crushers". Unfortunately, one win from 3 games was never enough to advance to the semi-finals, but everyone agreed that to compete in the playoffs was a great learning experience and a highlight in the club's history. |
