Wednesday January 26, 2011 was the hottest Australia Day for several
years with temperatures up in the mid 30's for our annual "Men Invite the Women"
Summer Carnival. Nevertheless some 48 intrepid bowlers and several helpers came along
determined to enjoy the bowls and make a successful day. The games were shortened to fewer ends in both morning and afternoon, allowing an extended break to enjoy the delicious lunch, prepared by Bowls Secretary Steven Maas and his helpers, in the air-conditioned comfort of the club rooms. The final came down to a single bowl shoot-out between teams skipped by our Women's and Men's Presidents. A packed house enjoyed their drinks in the cool club while watching Bridget Nelson with her team of Geoff Nelson and Frank Curtin produce the big shots when needed to win the trophy, defeating David Magnusson and his team of Pam Magnusson and Ian Moffatt. |
