A dramatic finish in fading light at Pittwater Memorial on Saturday June 13, 2009 saw Gordon's Grade 5 Pennant side achieve a historic victory to bring home the Zone 9 Pennant. Resuming the rain-interrupted finals from two weeks earlier, Gordon fought out a suspense filled tie against Neutral Bay in the morning. This set up an intruiging afternoon match against Warringah in which Gordon needed a win to secure the Pennant. A loss or tie would hand the flag to Warringah, who had beaten Neutral Bay before the rain interruption. All square on the 61st end, Gordon lost a 3 on the 62nd end. Down several shots, Steve Gliddon trailed the jack with his last bowl to score a 4! An incredible finish, and a well earned result to everyone who played so well throughout the season.
