Autumn Carnival 2008

With the generous support of our sponsors, Century 21 Cordeau Marshall, the Gordon Bowling Club again held a highly successful Autumn Carnival on Monday May 5th.
We welcomed 42 teams of men's triples from numerous clubs around Sydney. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful clear Autumn weather; the greens ran fast and true and the event was played in the usual spirit of friendly competitiveness.
Many thanks to all the club's volunteers who assisted with the running of the carnival and the superb lunch. Congratulations to the winning team of T Nathan, M Orlic and P Westcott from the North Sydney Club, and to the runners-up W Parry, R Macklin and G Appleby from Turramurra.

Mixed Bowls Days

Twilight bowls has been in recess for the winter months, but will be re-commencing in September. The first twilight bowls of the new season will be held on Friday September 19th at 4pm, with meal to follow at 6.30pm.
Details from Olwyn McAllister or Don Pendergast.

Also, for those who enjoy mixed bowls don't forget our monthly triples and pairs on the first Sunday of each month (formerly known as "Turkey Triples") with prizes provided by sponsors Gregory and Carr.  Sign up at the club and those who wish to play in the same team simply bracket your names. Dress is casual (or optional uniform) and visitors from other clubs are welcome to book in for a game. Learner bowlers are also welcome.

The next Sunday bowls will be a combined September-October day on September 28th, 2008.

Further information from David Magnusson.

Card Days

A successful regular social event for many years, our "Card Day" is held on the last Monday of each month at 10.30 am. We welcome players to Solo, Bridge or Scrabble. The cost is $10 which includes a drink with nibbles, then a light lunch. In January 2008, Card Day will be on Monday 21st because of the Public Holiday on the last Monday. New players are welcome. Details from Olwyn McAllister.
